Dear Parents and Educators,
Welcome to SIG 2008! Our summer residential, day, and affiliate
programs are ready and waiting for you. We are especially excited
this year as we have so many great courses, activities and opportunities
to offer you at so many great campuses.
We are especially pleased to introduce a new campus to our SIG family in 2008. The University of Texas at Austin will open this summer and will have a science and math focus in addition to our usual broad array of courses in multiple curricular areas. We are excited to have UT on board and are pleased to expand our program into this part of the country.
For 24 years, SIG has provided this exceptional three-week experience
by creating a community of student learners who share common
interests, abilities, and goals while living and studying on inspiring
college campuses. We provide students with challenging and interesting courses, a safe environment, and opportunities to grow intellectually, socially, and emotionally. It is no surprise that these elements come together in powerful ways to impact students’ lives by increasing their independence and self-confidence, exercising their brains in different ways, and developing relationships
that are meaningful and long-lasting. It’s also fun!
We also want to share with you that SIG is a proud sponsor of
the National Society for the Gifted and Talented, a student
membership organization that recognizes, provides resources for
and supports academically advanced students in Kindergarten through
12th grades. Visit http://www.nsgt.org/ for
more information.
Whether you are a returning family or are new to SIG or are an
educator interested in helping gifted students learn more about
educational and social opportunities, I know you will find our
website informative. Please visit our website regularly
for updates and additional information or contact us directly
at (866) 303-4744 with any questions you might have.
We can’t wait until SIG starts in 2008 and know that you
will want to be part of the experience too.
